If anyone knows the guy who's hosting these clips can you please tell him NOT to cut into the more "interesting" parts. Kinda ruins the whole idea for Benny himself if he wants to show a musical progression in his solo.
TBH Because of the cut outs etc. i didn't musicaly satisfy me. Benny is a great drummer etc. But there's a long way to go if the editors wanted to clip out the "un-interesting" parts of his solo to promote him. If the solo was a complete musical statement, they would've shown it all. Or else they're not trying to support the world of musical drummers, rather a sportmanship of drumming. They've done the same thing with Virgil etc. Why're they doing that?
It's late and i got a few beers etc. and I might regret posting it. But that's how i feel about it.

I like this clip better than the first one that was on here. I checked out some more stuff on his site just now and he's got some good stuff on there. He seems pretty relaxed which I like.

Hey Klemme,
Benny played for 40 minutes at the festival. This clip is on his web site and you know as well as me that these video clips are limited to about 5 minutes each, maximum.
The clip is only a sampling of his best moments at the Montreal Fest.
I would not be surprised to see Benny perform at Modern Drummer's festival in September 2006 !

Klemme - i agree. Even though i do understand that they're only clips & only allotted so many minutes for each, but it's still a bugger when they're chopped-n-cropped up like that. Muso's mild irritant. ;-]
Same thing w that other killer hosted clip of Michel Bernard...when it cuts from the fuso-jazz thing to the latinish...can you say, "cr*ppy-editing choices?"
BTW - ditto Omar, cj. He's the fashizzle.

This guy's got great chops, but makes me appreciate 'feel' guys like Omar even more. I'm not trying to be rude or anything- I always appreciate everyone's posts- especially about players I haven't heard before...it's all good...thanks Groove.
Meanwhile, back to my 'desk job'...

Must be the film quality but I wasn't sure if I was looking at a drum kit or a half constructed apartment block. Anyway, I do like benny grebs playing, but I also agree with cjbdrm.
